Post Production

In 2007 I attended an exhibition of Andreas Gursky and was flabbergasted. The sheer size of his work was breathtaking. I remember standing in front of his images for the first time thinking „Something is off.“. My mind understood the image as it presented itself but my eye caught something that wasn’t quite right, or quite real. I loved being drawn into Gurskys way of manipulating reality without being to obvious about it. It’s like solving a puzzle with another look, and another, and another.

I remember coming home from school and my mother using our bathroom/kitchen to develop images and experiment with the chemicals that made the room uninhabitable for the afternoon. We looked at the results together and I understood pretty quick that her process relies on feeling rather than precise measurements. And even though post production on digital images are somewhat more "technical" it does bring me lot of joy trying different settings, options and filters without having it down to a science and it gives me yet another level of creativity to interpret the reality of my images and create anew.
